Apprentice incentive
The apprentice incentive is available to all employers registered with ReturnToWorkSA who employ an eligible person, as well as self-insured employers. The incentive aims to assist skills creation in South Australia by encouraging employers to take on apprentices.
An apprentice is:
- an apprentice who is or will be trained under an approved training contract in an occupation declared to be a 'trade' under section 6 of the South Australian Skills Act 2008 (the Act) or
- for a group training organisation only - a trainee who is or will be trained under an approved training contract in an occupation that is a declared 'vocation' under section 6 of the Act.
Employers that employ eligible apprentices will have the remuneration paid to apprentices multiplied by the industry premium rate deducted from their insurance premium. For information, please read Your work injury insurance booklet.
