Impact of fraud on the Return to Work scheme

Video transcript

DESCRIPTION:

A red stylised map of South Australia has a white logo across it that reads ‘Return to Work SA’. The SA lettering is coloured red and has a logo above it. The logo features a red line above a lime green line below that curve into each other to form a stadium shape.

In an animation, a car drives past a row of buildings: a factory, a high-rise and a small fish and chip shop. As it drives past, the ReturnToWorkSA logo appears above each one.

MALE VOICEOVER:

ReturnToWorkSA provides insurance that protects South Australian businesses and their workers in the event of a work injury.

DESCRIPTION:

In a second animation, a young man holds his elbow and walks over to a man who wears a yellow hardhat and stands and looks at a clipboard. Red circles pulse out from the young man’s elbow as he rubs it.

MALE VOICEOVER:

Our role is to manage the return-to-work scheme and protect it so it can support workers and employers when they need it most.

DESCRIPTION:

A three-way split-screen has three different animations. On the left, a dark-haired woman suns herself on a beach beneath a palm tree. In the middle, a brown-haired man leans against a bar and waves a wad of cash. On the right, a curly-haired man sits in a yellow sports car that has a red and white ‘Sold’ sign on its windscreen.

MALE VOICEOVER:

There are employers, workers and return-to-work providers who obtain financial gain or other benefits through deception and dishonest means.

DESCRIPTION:

A man works on a conveyor belt at a factory. Inside a nearby office, the dark-haired woman is startled when a load of signs that read ‘Income support Pay Slip’ pile up in front of her. She smiles and looks thoughtful.

MALE VOICEOVER:

For example, an employer continuing to claim income support reimbursement after an injured worker has returned to work.

DESCRIPTION:

In another animation, the brown-haired man plays golf. He swings at the ball and clutches his back as it radiates with a pulsing red circle. He stops with a thoughtful smirk on his face.

MALE VOICEOVER:

Or a worker claiming for an injury that was not work-related or overexaggerating their injury to stay away from work, or a return-to-work provider charging for services that have not been provided.

DESCRIPTION:

The curly-haired man from earlier starts a stopwatch from 5 mins. A sheet of paper appears in front of him that reads ‘Service Invoice – Time: 60 MINS’.

A stack of gold coins rain down into a large pile. Six lime green circles appear around the stack of coins, each one has a worker from various different occupations inside.

MALE VOICEOVER:

When people commit fraud, it increases the cost of running the scheme, and this cost is covered by all businesses paying a ReturnToWorkSA insurance premium.

DESCRIPTION:

A newspaper classifieds section reads ‘Recruitment’ at the top.

In a split-screen, a green silhouette of a person talks on a telephone to a bald man who sits at a computer and wears a telephone headset.

FEMALE VOICEOVER:

This increases the costs of doing business, and therefore the ability for them to employ staff, which affects us all. If you think someone is committing fraud, you should contact us. You can remain anonymous.

DESCRIPTION:

A three-way split-screen of the woman and two men from earlier. The dark-haired woman is now behind bars, the brown-haired man reads a letter with a red stamp on it and the curly-haired man frowns as he puts some cash in an envelope.

FEMALE VOICEOVER:

Anyone convicted of fraud faces serious consequences, including prison, fines, and having to repay the money they received.

DESCRIPTION:

Red lettering appears over each of them. ‘Prison’, ‘Fines’ and ‘Repayments’ respectively.

The group of workers from various occupations stand together as a group.

FEMALE VOICEOVER:

We take fraud very seriously and we need your help to keep the scheme fair for everyone.

DESCRIPTION:

The green silhouette of a person from earlier picks up a telephone and dials.

FEMALE VOICEOVER:

If you suspect any illegal activity, call ReturnToWorkSA on 13 18 55 or go to rtwsa.com to report it online.

DESCRIPTION:
