Video transcript
DESCRIPTION:
A woman sits at a desk near a large window that has a leafy green indoor plant on it. She has short dark hair and wears glasses and a black jacket over a white and blue polka dot collared shirt.
MARDI WEBBER:
I'm Mardi Webber, a mentally healthy workplace consultant at ReturnToWorkSA.
DESCRIPTION:
On a white background, a grey and red logo reads ‘Return to Work SA’. The SA lettering is coloured red and has a logo above it that features a red line above a lime green line that curve into each other to form a stadium shape.
TEXT: Introducing Mardi Webber – Your Mentally Healthy Workplaces Consultant
MARDI WEBBER:
I'm a registered psychologist, and I have about 30 years' experience in the area of health and safety and injury management.
DESCRIPTION:
Mardi walks along a footpath. She heads up some stairs into a building.
MARDI WEBBER:
What I do is provide free assistance and support to any workplace in South Australia that wants to take action in the area of workplace mental health.
DESCRIPTION:
Mardi sits at a large table with a dark-haired woman. A ‘ReturnToWorkSA’ brochure sits on the table in front of her. Mardi opens the brochure as she talks to the woman.
MARDI WEBBER:
The services that I offer really depend on the needs of the workplace and what they want to achieve when it comes to workplace mental health. So it could be that you have a workplace that is right from the beginning. They want to take action, but they don't know what to do.
DESCRIPTION:
Elsewhere, Mardi sits and talks to a group of men and women.
MARDI WEBBER:
So in that workplace, I might go out, talk to them about what is a mentally healthy workplace, why it's important, some free tools and resources and perhaps some suggestions of how they can make a start.
So we know that at any given time, about one in five Australian workers are likely to have a mental health condition. So part of a mentally healthy workplace is definitely about supporting people with mental health conditions, to make sure that they are supported in the workplace without stigma and discrimination.
DESCRIPTION:
Mardi stands and addresses a group of seated workers at a car dealership. A red ute is up on display outside the window behind her.
MARDI WEBBER:
I think a great place to start as far as helping a workplace become mentally healthy is actually in the area of workplace education. And so part of my role is about providing free education to workplaces. So it could be that a workplace is really interested in training up their managers and supervisors about what is a mentally healthy workplace, why it's important, perhaps even how they can have a supportive conversation with someone that's stressed or struggling within the workplace.
So if you're interested in accessing free assistance and support from myself, all you have to do is email me on mentallyhealthy@rtwsa.com, or jump onto our website, and there's lots of information about mentally healthy workplaces and my contact details.
