Return to Work scheme overview
Video transcript
DESCRIPTION:
A red stylised map of South Australia has a white logo across it that reads ‘Return to Work SA’. The SA lettering is coloured red and has a logo above it. The logo features a red line above a lime green line that curve into each other to form a stadium shape.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
ReturnToWorkSA provides South Australian employers with insurance to protect their business and their workers in the event of a work-related injury.
DESCRIPTION:
In an animation, a group of workers from different occupations stand in a line. Above their heads floats the ReturnToWorkSA stadium logo from earlier.
A dark-haired woman stands next to a bucket and wears rubber gloves and holds a mop. The background behind her changes to a bedroom. A yellow coin appears in the air next to her that has an orange dollar sign symbol on it. A second lime green cross symbol appears below the coin.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
We support people who have been injured by providing financial support, which covers wages, access to reasonable medical treatment, and a range of return to work services to help them recover and return to work as soon as they can.
DESCRIPTION:
Four small animated figures appear above the bedside table behind her. A label below each reads, respectively, ‘Physio’; ‘Trainer’; ‘Case Manager’ and ‘GP’.
A lime green circle has green text inside that reads ‘Work injury insurance cover’. Four smaller circles positioned around it have the faces of four of the earlier workers – a bald man that has a grey moustache; a man who wears a yellow hardhat; a man who wears a khaki sunhat; and a brunette woman. Small coins race from each of the four workers in towards the central circle.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
The scheme is funded by employers who pay an annual insurance premium.
DESCRIPTION:
Three new circles are positioned like a pyramid. The top circle reads ‘Remuneration’ in green text alongside it and has three small icons inside of an egg in a nest, a blue car and a coin.
The circle on the bottom left is labelled ‘Industry risk rating’ and there is a pressure gauge inside that has a black needle. The needle zips around to point at a red segment labelled ‘Very High’.
The circle on the bottom right is labelled ‘Income support costs’ and, inside, a blue column rises on a gauge that reads ‘Weekly payments’.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
An employer's insurance premium is calculated based on the remuneration they pay workers, a risk rating for the industry they operate in, and any income support costs for the previous year.
DESCRIPTION:
Inside a room, the dark-haired woman sits at a table with the bald grey-moustached man who wears a suit and badge that reads ‘Manager’. The dark-haired woman rubs her back as the man talks on his phone. A bubble appears above them that has a brunette woman inside who also talks on a phone. She wears a purple blouse and has a badge that reads ‘Case Manager’.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
When recovery from an injury is likely to take longer than two weeks, a mobile case manager will visit the worker and employer as soon as possible to assist.
DESCRIPTION:
A red car pulls up outside a white building.
Later, the Case Manager sits at the table between the dark-haired woman and the bald man.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
The case manager will continue to meet face to face throughout the recovery and return to work journey.
DESCRIPTION:
The dark-haired woman stands with the GP from the earlier animation. She wears a black brace around her middle.
Later, she stands near some exercise equipment as the Physio from earlier demonstrates some exercises.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
This way we can provide the worker with the support and services they need to recover from their injury and return to work as soon as possible.
DESCRIPTION:
Inside a break room, the dark-haired woman is greeted by a blonde woman who uses a mop and bucket. A speech bubble from the blonde woman reads ‘Welcome back, Judy.’ The Manager and the Case Worker stand with Judy and smile.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
Financial support to cover a worker's wage is provided for up to two years and up to three years for medical and return to work services.
DESCRIPTION:
Judy stands on a grey background next to a yellow coin. White text above reads ‘up to two years’.
Further white text appears on the right and reads ‘up to three years’. Below, the animated figures of the Physio, Trainer, Case Manager and GP from earlier.
A graph reads ‘Average Weekly Earnings’ on the vertical ‘Y’ axis and there are two columns on the horizontal ‘X’ axis that read ‘Year 1’ and ‘Year 2’. A lime green column rises to 100% above Year 1. A second column rises to 80% on the second column.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
If someone is off work for a long time, they will receive 100% of their average weekly earnings for the first year. This reduces to 80% in the second year before income support stops.
DESCRIPTION:
The Case Worker sits in a break room with a man who has a bandage curled around his head and arm. A bubble above the case worker has an animation of the bandaged man checking out a new railing on a set of stairs.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
For anyone seriously injured, we provide a tailored programme of lifetime support to suit their specific needs.
DESCRIPTION:
As the case worker talks to the bandaged man, the animations above change to the man swimming in a pool under supervision, followed by another animation of the Physio moving the man’s leg as he sits on a chair.
Later, Judy uses a feather duster on a vase of flowers as an elderly man sits in a yellow armchair nearby. A speech bubble above the elderly man says “Pleased to have you back, Judy,”.
Elsewhere, in another animation, a woman talks on the telephone. She has long brown hair and wears a bandage on her wrist. A sign on the desk reads ‘Hair Salon’.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
Staying at or returning to work as soon as possible can be the best thing for a worker's health, well-being, and their recovery.
DESCRIPTION:
In another animation, a man drives a red tractor near some hay bales. He wears a khaki sunhat and a blue shirt.
Elsewhere, the bandaged man from earlier stands with a second man on a building site. He holds some blueprints in his hands and both men wear yellow hardhats and Hi-Vis vests. A crane lifts materials in the background.
FEMALE VOICEOVER:
It also minimises disruption to the workplace and can even reduce the cost of an employer's insurance premium.
